Probably my favorite set of all SLU's. The hunt for certain figures is so much fun. And simply amazing when you finally find that one piece for a decent price. But with the high demand of SLU's (especially football) just getting more and more maddening every day, the figures are becoming harder to find and the prices are skyrocketing. Still very fun go hunt for, though.
Anyone have any idea why the Dan Marino figures of this set are so sought after and expensive? There were 2 in every all star case, you wouldn't think they were very rare.
I'm surprised there's no mention of the Tim Brown error that has him wearing number 85 instead of 81. As far as I know there was never a corrected version. But probably still worth mentioning.
It maybe an error if card & figure are both 1989. The cards and figures were frequently mixed up by Chinese workers. Most of these pieces usually have nominal value though.

ReplyDeleteThere was no regional Miami Dolphins case in 1989. Plus the plastic was often dented.

ReplyDeleteBrown wore both numbers. He started out wearing #85 in 1988 then switched to #81.
DeleteWhat about the Line up with Al Toon figure and Webster Slaughter card?

DeleteBummer was hoping for a one of a kind value! Thanks for the reply.
